Bush’s changing climate

George W. Bush has told Americans to cut petrol usage by 20 per cent over the next decade in his annual State of the Union speech today. Mr Bush has said the US is “addicted” to oil imported from hostile regimes and that it is in the country’s “vital interest” to find new energy sources. He has asked for powers to overhaul US vehicle fuel economy standards, including a 10 per cent cut to car and truck emissions.
Mr Bush, who has been accused by critics worldwide of neglecting climate change and who has refused to sign the Kyoto protocol on emissions reductions, has called climate change “a serious challenge”.
I really don’t think George W. Bush had anything to do with the Globalwarming Awareness2007, but it seems he now is able to understand (god how can I thank you ?) han US has been for too long a nation which was dependent on foreign oil. Note he didn’t say of our oil, but of our foreign oil !
“And this dependence leaves us more vulnerable to hostile regimes, and to terrorists - who could cause huge disruptions of oil shipments, raise the price of oil, and do great harm to our economy. It is in our vital interest to diversify America’s energy supply - and the way forward is through technology.”
Maybe It could be interresting to remember dear Mr Bush, than you already overhauled emissions standards and you are now merely trying to pass the buck ! Our problem in dealing with the Bush administration is that when they want to send troops to fight for oil, they do that whether or not they have the authority !
But the executives and leaders of 4 major environmental organizations said in a letter to Bush that mandatory emissions caps are needed to reduce the flow of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases into the atmosphere. That the Globalwarming Awareness.
“We can and must take prompt action to establish a coordinated, economy-wide market-driven approach to climate protection,” the executives, part of a coalition called the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, said in a letter to the president. At a news conference, the executives said that mandatory reductions of heat-trapping emissions can be imposed without economic harm and would lead to economic opportunities if done across the economy and with provisions to mitigate costs. Many of the companies already have voluntarily moved to curb greenhouse emissions, they said. But the executives also said they do not believe voluntary efforts will suffice.
And please remeber who won the Award Climate Killer.
